About Me

My photo
Hi Bloggers! My name is Tasha. This blog originally started out as a site to show the work of my Grandmother, my Mother, my sister and I to society. All of us are crafty in each own's right and enjoy working and manipulating objects with our hands to create whatever we dream up. BUT, it has become a space I can just jot (or type) down my thoughts and whatever randomness comes up. So... grap a cup of coffee, tea or hot cocoa, grap your mouse and browse the site. Find something you really like in the craft showcases? Email us. You just may be able to get a replica or since it's all handmade, something very similar! Oh! Everything that we have crafted on here is made in the USA!!

The year of the 'Shawl'

I've done a TON of browsing lately on the different bookmarked sites I have in my 'Crochet' folder... I have a question to all my other crafty friends.....

um... is it me or did all of a sudden european shawls EXPLODE into the market???  I've made one or two through the years but seriously??  Every page has a pattern and every magazine or shot I see of Hollywood out and about I see... Shawls.  FYI - If you're in my family you will probably get a shawl this year for Christmas.. like I said... I've made one or two through the years.....

So... While I'm currently busy with a poncho for my daughter, I'm contemplating another shawl or two... Anyone have a favorite pattern?

I've also noticed on all my other 'crafty' friends sites the EXPLOSION of head accessories.  I think I may dive into the party mix and see what I can contribute.  I know I have a pattern that goes way back to my Grandmother's era for crochet hairclippies...  hm... now which book was that in????

Let me know your thoughts.... I just may run another contest.... hm......

Rev. Numa Highfill

It is with a sad heart that we type to you today. Our pastor for the last 12 years is now reaping his reward. Yesterday while at a routine doctor visit, Numa Highfill, pastor of Christian Cathedral in Thomasville, NC passed away.

Numa was not only our pastor and guide, but an intimate part of our family. He and his wife celebrated many joys and shed many tears with us through the years with every aspect of our lives. If you remember several months ago, my Aunt on my mother's side was hit by a car and killed. For the viewing, Numa chartered a bus and filled it up to take the members and attendees to Virginia to support my family. His heart was LOVE. Early morning would he rise and eat breakfast with a group of men and begin his morning routine with camaraderie and fellowship. He then would visit our local nursing homes, often bringing the residence breakfast!, and hospitals. If there were any within the congregation - members or not - that were sick, shut in, at the hospital, or he knew was in need of something - he made a point to be there. He lived a life of servitude and example. We used to joke with him over singing... he'd tell us he only sang in the shower and then not very loudly... I'd give anything to hear him singing now. I can imagine it's the loudest voice in heaven. This past Sunday, he spoke of our upcoming dinner and festivities and how it would begin our tradition of having luncheons at church every month... To use the words of Elizabeth when I told her Mr Numa was in heaven.... he's now eating at God's table, where the food never runs out.

What a sweet thought from a sweet little girl.

Please pray for the family and the church as we go through this time. And be sure to ask for God's guidance as we go through this transitional time.

Much love to all...
