About Me

My photo
Hi Bloggers! My name is Tasha. This blog originally started out as a site to show the work of my Grandmother, my Mother, my sister and I to society. All of us are crafty in each own's right and enjoy working and manipulating objects with our hands to create whatever we dream up. BUT, it has become a space I can just jot (or type) down my thoughts and whatever randomness comes up. So... grap a cup of coffee, tea or hot cocoa, grap your mouse and browse the site. Find something you really like in the craft showcases? Email us. You just may be able to get a replica or since it's all handmade, something very similar! Oh! Everything that we have crafted on here is made in the USA!!

Snow!

OK, so Thomasville received 7.5 to 8 inches of snow today all within 15 hours, then we received about 2 inches of ice. Then it sorta stopped, but this afternoon it started up again. Makes me kinda wonder what it'll be like in the mornin'. :)
So you would think that since we were all 'snowed in' today that I would just sit and crochet all day long.... WRONG! I did pick up my needle when it fell on the floor though, does that count? :) LoL
My daughter played in the snow all day and I didn't pick up my camara not once... What is wrong with me? :) She had so much fun and looked so cold, but didn't want to give up playtime in the snow. I had to literally make her come inside and give her a warm bath!!!
I had a strong, cute Marine shoveling my driveway for me today too, but before he could finish up halfway, the snow started falling and covered up all his meticulous work. : But it was fun to watch and even better knowing he was doing it and not I. Ha!
Laughed my butt off at the dogs today too as they are not so sure they like this white stuff that has taken over their playground slash toilet. We have two dogs, a boy and a girl. My boy-dog is whom I lovingly refer to as my wild child and seriously needs to be on ritalin, while girl-dog is the most layed back, relaxed dog you will ever find. They are a brother sister combo and as different as night and day. The boy dog for example sticks his nose in the snow only to snort up a snout full of icy snow the minute he walks out the door and proceeds to whimper and snort the entire time we are outside until I almost wet myself from laughing at him. Meanwhile, my girl-dog just trudges through the snow whereever I go, neverminding the enormous buildup of snow and ice sticking to her legs and undercoat. They are such a contrast I can't help but find the joy and laughter in them.
I fixed pancakes for breakfast, sandwiches for lunch, and stew beef and open-faced grilled cheeses for dinner tonight. I've laid out and seperated the chicken for tomorrow, cleaned my kitchen, washed the load of clothes we used today and... now sit in front of the computer typing out my accomplishments for the day. I think before I call it a night I will put my daughter to bed, sit in the bathtub for what seems like forever with a good book and the wonderful aroma of one of my favorite candles wafting through the air.
May all our friends and family have as blessed a life as I.... until tomorrow.....

Needlework - embroidery

My grandmother does beautiful needle work. You'll see several examples here. His and Hers pillow cases, Monogramed towel sets and pillowcases. I love her embroidery because it's all completed by hand, not machine.

Other crafts / art

This is an angel, which is created using a songbook that has been retired. My mother and grandmother both make these. These angels are beautiful as a centerpiece on your dining table or sitting on your mantle or piano during the holidays or all year through!

My sister will probably shoot me, as I'm not sure
she ever intended me to put this on the site,
however, I love it. She drew this for me after I
married and moved into our home.

Crochet Projects Cont...

Below are some pictures of a Baby Set I did for my new nephew. I wanted to come up with a design that hadn't been seen before. I played around with crocheting letters until I came up with this dimensional version that I liked fairly well. Then just all I did was sew it onto the finished blanket. This set included, the monogram blanket, bib, 2 different style booties were made as well as a little hat (not shown). This was a lot of fun making this set, but I like making the frilly girly sets best. But this set is and will always be, extra special because of my nephew.

Crochet Projects

This is a 5 foot 3 inch scarf made with a one sided ruffle. Brown / Blue Cami yarn was used. This would look pretty with any type of variegated yarn, though.

CandyLandDreams set. Extra-wide scarf, hat and fingerless gloves.
5 year old model wearing CandyLandDreams fingerless gloves.
These were made with a variegated dyed wool. They are not brushed nor have been felted. They are to be worn as seen. Some 'fuzzing' will occur with normal wear.
